Privacy first

Your finances never become someone else’s data.

Most money apps start by moving your financial life into their cloud. Personal Finance does the opposite: there’s no account to create with us and no server of ours holding your balances. It all stays in a database on your own computer.

Stored on your computer

Accounts, balances, transactions, holdings, and projections are kept in a local database on your device. We never receive a copy.

Locked with your password

Bank connection tokens and API keys are encrypted with a key that only your password, or your 24-word recovery phrase, can unlock. Sign out and they’re sealed again.

Optional, read-only connections

Connect your institutions through Plaid to pull balances, holdings, and history automatically. It only reads; it can’t move money. Or skip it and enter everything by hand.

Your keys, no middleman

Connections use your own Plaid and RentCast API keys, so data comes straight from them to your machine. It never routes through us.

No tracking. Nothing to sell.

No analytics, no ads, no telemetry. Your data isn’t shared, sold, or used to train AI, because we never have it.

Encrypted backups, real deletion

Export everything as an AES-256-encrypted backup that standard OpenSSL can open. Deleting a profile erases its data and revokes its bank connections at the source.

Your banks read-only, optional Personal Finance on your computer nothing sent Our servers Data flows one way, onto your machine. There’s no sync service and no cloud copy.

Net worth

Every account. One table.

See every balance together, sorted and filtered however you like, with your net worth, assets, and debts totaled at the top.

  • Organized by tax treatment. Taxable, tax-deferred, tax-free, and real estate, so you see how your money is held as well as how much there is.
  • One-click refresh. Pull the latest balances, holdings, and transactions from every connected institution, plus estimated home values.
  • History that builds itself. Each refresh is saved as a snapshot, so you can chart any account or bucket over time.
  • Manual accounts welcome. Anything without a connection can be entered by hand and is counted everywhere.
Dashboard
Accounts table listing fifteen accounts (brokerage, retirement, bank, credit card, real estate, and loans) with balances, six-month change, and a net total of $1,204,083

Fifteen accounts across eight institutions, totaled in one place.

Holdings
Portfolio insights: period change, concentration of top positions, cost basis gains, allocation drift, custodian concentration, security type by tax bucket, and low-yield cash

Portfolio insights, computed from the positions you already hold.

Portfolio

Understand what you hold.

Every position across every brokerage and retirement account in one explorer, with the patterns that are hard to see one statement at a time.

  • Concentration. How much rides on your largest position, your top five, and each custodian.
  • Gains and cost basis. Unrealized gain or loss across every position, with winners and losers split out.
  • Drift over time. How your mix of stocks, funds, and real estate has shifted between any two dates.
  • Idle cash. Balances earning less than a reference rate, shown alongside what they actually earned.
Transactions
Transaction insights: a 48% savings rate, recurring income of $109,200 a year, and recurring expenses with cadence, status, and annualized cost

Savings rate, income streams, and every recurring charge, found automatically.

Spending

Know where it goes.

Transactions from every card and account are categorized and analyzed together, so the full pattern shows up without a spreadsheet.

  • Recurring charges, surfaced. Subscriptions and bills detected with their cadence and yearly cost, and flagged when they look like they’ve ended.
  • A savings rate you can trust. Transfers between your own accounts are paired and excluded, so card payments and contributions aren’t counted twice.
  • Income, dividends, and fees. Paychecks, interest, and investment income, each tracked by source.
  • Tax-time export. Dividends, interest, sale proceeds, and fees as CSV or JSON.
Transactions

Monthly cashflow by category, with transfers and investment moves left out.

Projections

Ask “what if?”

A retirement calculator that starts from your real balances and spending, then runs the numbers forward on assumptions you control.

  • Start from what you have. Balances and a rough spending estimate are filled in from your accounts. Every value stays editable.
  • Model the details. Retirement age, returns, inflation, Social Security, pensions, withdrawal order, and one-off events.
  • See how long it lasts. Net worth year by year, an annual cashflow table, and the age at which the money would run out.
  • Compare scenarios. Save as many as you like and overlay them on one chart.
Projections
Four saved retirement scenarios compared: money-lasts-until age, ending net worth, and total withdrawn, with overlaid net-worth curves

Four scenarios side by side. The stress test runs out at 81.

Projections
A single projection scenario with editable assumptions on the left and net worth by tax bucket over time on the right

Every assumption is yours to set, and every result is shown year by year.

The details

Thoughtful where it counts.

A profile for each person

Each member of the household gets their own password-protected profile on the same computer, and can switch between them.

Real estate, net of the mortgage

Track estimated home values and see your equity, not just the price.

Look back to any day

Every position, with cost basis and gain/loss, plus an as-of date picker to see your holdings on any past day.

Guided setup

A first-run guide walks you through getting your own connection keys, or straight past them if you’d rather enter things by hand.

Light and dark

Follows your system theme, or switch with one click.

Facts, not advice

Insights describe what’s there. They never tell you to buy, sell, or rebalance. The decisions stay yours.
